Hi, my friend is about to take out travel insurance for her husband who had a mini stroke, but he is concerned that it might have a knock on effect on his driving insurance. Does anyone know if this would be the case. Would be grateful for any information. Thanks.

I think you will find a mini stroke should probably have been reported to the DVLA and that will certainly have an effect on car insurance rates. For the travel insurance you must report the facts and probably talk to the medical team at the insurers, if you don't the cover may be void.0

No, you only need to report to the DVLA if symptoms continue after a month.Alan_Bowen wrote: »I think you will find a mini strok should probably have been reported to the DVLA and that will certainly have an effect on car insurance rates.
Most online applications include health details as part of the process, and you will quickly see the effect on the premium. For the travel insurance you must report the facts and probably talk to the medical team at the insurers, if you don't the cover may be void.0
