well ive told friend... they took it well ... well as well as can be expected when you find out that you havnt got the money coming in that you thought you had

Out of interest what is the CRV and FRV like. I know the petrol can be thirsty but they do look comfy. I had a W reg Honda Shuttle best car I have owned, never went wrong in the 6 years I owned it and past MOT first time every year. I did have it serviced regularly by the Honda dealer they were really cheap which surprised me.
I only ever had the CRV, not the FRV (I don't have kids, so it didn't appeal to me), although one of the other area managers had one (spent a couple of days with him as a passenger) and it seemed a decent enough vehicle if you have a large family.
You're right about the petrol fuel consumption, the CRV (and I expect the FRV) has the aerodynamics of a brick. This doesn't matter with town driving, but when you do a lot of motorway driving and are often pressed for time (cough, speeding, cough), it just drains the fuel. I remember one time, agreeing to attend an annual dealer open day on a Saturday (Norwich, that I did every year), forgetting at the time that I was getting a ferry to France on the Sunday. I'd made a mental note that I get all the stuff on the Saturday (shopping for the trip, holiday insurance etc.) only to realise that I'd double booked my Saturday.
Normally I'd have driven over on the Friday afternoon and stayed overnight, but this time I left early Saturday morning (about 165 mile from memory), thrashed the car (I might have been doing a little under a three figure speed, there and back) and the same on the return journey. I had to add 40 miles to the expenses just to cover the fuel (normally we made money on the fuel allowance to cover private mileage).
The CRV is fun, it drives like a car (not permanent 4wd), but you have the high seat position and get a good view. It's great if you have dogs and need to transport them, just chuck them in the back, much higher boot, so they can't get onto the back seats. It was comfortable from memory and I did enjoy driving it.
If you do town driving and dual carriageways it is fine on fuel, but if you do a lot of motorway driving it is thirsty.0 -

Honda have made some very good MPV's but seemed to discontinue them quite quickly. The Honda Shuttle (1995-2000) The Honda Stream (2001-2006) and the Honda FRV (2004-2009). They all get very high ratings from owners on car forums mainly moaning about why Honda do not make them any more. I still see plenty of Shuttle's around with the bullet proof vtec engine which I would highly recommend and surprisingly good on petrol.

Was the £75 just to swap cars on a current policy? i.e. until the current policy expires?
If so, do a new quote for a year and see what the difference is.

yep that is to transfer the car but on the same policy .... it will be for the year though as my insurance was up for renewel on the 11th of feb ... which is good in a way i spose0 -

hi , bear with me cause i will remember what i can but if i forget something i may have to come back to youit's a 53 plate megane 1.5dci
first of all the fuel pump disintegrated and destroyed the injectors and the fuel system so we had to get the full thing replaced the fuel lines the pump and the injectors ( cost i think £4,500 plus) car was just out of warranty .. quel surprise
the injectors have now went again and that is what is currently being looked at
the thermal couplings ( i think thats right ... kinda like a spark plug but not ... not sure proper name tbh sorry) have all been replaced several times due to faulty parts ( funnily enough it cost us each time
the window on the drivers side door well that has been sorted 4 times now the motor the loom have both been replaced after the last time we found out that it is a fault with the car and shouldve been fixed for free ... not our experience £250 approx each time
the alternater went on fire whilst i was driving one night so i had to get the police to escort me to a safe place then get the A.A to uplift it and take it to a garage to get that fixed ... got a second hand one fitted ...
the turbo something or other went not too sure on the exact name sorry ... i could drive the car with it gone but it had no power in it at all getting out of a junction was scary sometimesand the minute it hit a hill it basically slowed to 20mph ... that was fun to work with ...NOT
the electrics had a melt down , changing a lightbulb on a megane is so much fun you should try it .... you have to take this bit of plastic off and squeeze your hand up and hey why deny someone the fun of finding out for yourself ... anyway the plastic bit that you had to take off had fallen off ( probably not put back on right tbh) so the water got into it ...
i was driving the car home from work when suddenly all the lights started flashing the window wipers started going on all the warning lights came on the door locks kept locking unlocking etc ... but the scary thing was the steering wheel locked ... thankfully i was approaching a roundabout so i was going slow ... i was basically stuck in the middle of the road unable to move (steering wheel locked on) turned it on and off several times managed eventaully to get the steering wheel lock off pulled in to a safe place once again got the A.A to lift the car and take it to another garage ... full electrical fault
i cant think off the top of my head of other things just now ... but i am sure there will be more
i can tell you that we regularly service our motor and whilst it isnt always cleaned on the inside we have taken care of the engine etc always got any work done we have needed to basic maintenance etc
other things ( but to be expected things same as every car) that we have had done ...
ball joints 3
track rod ends 4
breaks and pads etc replaced several times
heater has broken ... i now use a fan plugged into my lighter
air con has never worked
handbrake freezes on
you know the usual type things
good luck with making your decision i am not saying all renaults are like this just our experience
if i can think of anymore i will let you know0
