Querying whether i am aplicable for PPI

Hi

I assume you will have a few of these questions by now and hope someone can help me.

Anyway, about 6/7 years ago i first took out a loan at the banks request to repay my overdraft (i know i shouldnt have agreed to it but i was young and very frivoulous with money back then), after a further few overdrafts which were refinanced into my loan which as you can probably tell grew fairly large i defaulted on the loan.

Since defauting about 3 1/2 years ago, after receiving about 4 letters in the first couple months, i have not heard about this loan. Since i did not hear about it i did not pursue it or arrange to make further repayments. I now am repaying all my other debt, although at nominal amounts i do admit, i would like to enquiry about my loan with the bank and look at requesting PPI and then repaying the amount which would be left after PPI was/could be deducted from it. I am certain i would be eligable for PPI.

I was looking for advice on the best way to tackle this as i really am not sure, should i just brass neck it and approach the bank ask for my previous 4 or 5 loans details which were refinaced then make a claim for PPI or is there another more tactile way.

Like i said i have not heard from the bank regarding this loan for about 3 1/2 years, not any letter from the bank (outwith the initial few) or from debt companies they could have passed it on to so i am unsure if I'll be rocking the boat by asking about it. I do know the debt is still there as i have just checked my credit report today and it shows although it is a few £000's less than i thought!

Anyway, i would be grateful if anyone can make sense of the above and possibly provide some advice.

Thanks
Pabs
