Who do we claim off - Mortgage Finder bust

Hi
We used the Mortgage Finder to find us a Northern Rock mortgage and they also in turn sold us 3 types of PPI (source insurance, pamentshield and friends provident) Now Mortgage Finders no longer trade, but we still pay monthly to all three companies outlined above.

Who do we send a claim in for, as the company that sold us the PPI no longer operates?

Thanks

    No they didnt.

Source do house insurance, PPI and MPPI
paymentshield do house insurance, PPI and MPPI
Friends Provident is a life assurance company and does life assurance, critical illness, permanent health insurance, pensions and investments. They do not do PPI.

Good. Monthly premium means they were set up correctly.

Before you complain its probably a good idea to work out what you have as its clear you dont know at the moment and that will just make you look silly with a complaint and waste everyone's time.

You also need to work out what your complaint is as you havent indicated any wrong doing at the moment.

The next thing is what date were you sold these policies? This is key as regulation didnt start until 2005.

  • Sorry payment shield and source sold to us at the same time as the mortgage . Mis sold for many reasons such as being led to believe we had to, through to what they would actually cover. My question is in circumstances like this when the company that Mis sold you the ppi has ceased trading , who do you claim/send off the questiIlnnaire too? Thanks

But what do they cover? Just because they offer similar products does not mean they overlap.
Mis sold for many reasons such as being led to believe we had to,
That is a verbal allegation that is hard to prove. Hardly any complaints get upheld on that basis as you cant prove it.
through to what they would actually cover.

Which would require evidence. So, you need to know where they overlap, if indeed they do. My mortgage adviser has done source and paymentshield in the past without overlap (and probably has FP as well given the number of times he has used them for life assurance). Company name doesnt mean they are overlapped.

Depends on when it was bought. Hence why I asked what date this all was.

You can complain to the FSCS in that case. However, before you do, make sure you know what you have and what your complaint is. Don't assume as it is a long and slow process and a lot of work for you and them.

  • SO as the company that missold us no longer operates, the FSCS is the route to go?
