Info on transferring share ownership

Myself and my brothers were given some BT shares, (about £1k each) they now longer want theirs and have offered me first refusal.
Is it worth me purchasing theirs? And if so how much should I offer and how do I go about transferring share ownership without incurring any broker fees?

Any advice is much appreciated!

  • Look up the market price of BT then multiply by the number of shares to give the amount you should pay.

Get a share transfer form off the BT Registrar's website, fill it in and send it to the Registrar to transfer the shares to your name. You'll need the share certificate if they are held in certificated form (as opposed to in a nominee account).

I think you have to pay stamp duty as this would not be a gift...
