PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Info about areas - not stats

Are there any active forums out there which give info about specific areas, the dodgy bits, the safe bits, the posh bits etc. I'm not interested in all those sites showing stats as they often misrepresent areas and generalise too much.

I used to read the forums on upmystreet.com which were excellent but nowadays nobody even posts there. Are there any alternatives?

The areas i'm interested in are Iver, Denham, Harefield (near the M25) so if anyone can advise, that woudl be cool too!!

  • No active forums I know of. Best going to the local corner shop and striking up a conversation or having a chat with someone in the property section of the council. With regard to the shop method I found out about a licence application for nuclear waste had been accepted in an area I was checking out. There was no mention of it on the estate agents particulars!!
  • knowhere.com - although not always so accurate and aimed at younger people i think.
