I have just started teaching my self web design using dreamweaver but seem to have lost a couple of functions and cannot get them back!
when i wanted to create a direct e-mail link i just used to highlight the text or picture and click on the envelope on the "common" bar near the top and a new window used to open asking me what text and e-mail address i would like to use,but now it just inserts a previously used e-mail address i have used even if i switch between different web designs.how do i switch it back to default?
the other thing is along the same lines, when i go to insert keywords or a description of my site in the html tab near the top i used to get a new window in which to write but now i dont?
can anyone tell me how to set them back how the program was when i first started? probably a very easy fix but i cant find it!!
thanks in advance.

I don't have Dreamweaver on my work machine so I can't check the preferences, but if it's being a hassle, just as an email address as a link. Highlight it and in the properties inspectors (probably at the bottom of your screen), just paste in the email address and at "mailto:" at the start.
However, it's not a good idea to have email addresses on pages as they attract spam, you're better off with a form for sending emails.0 -
thanks for that seaweasel, thats the way i have been getting round it for the time being but i would really like to set the program back to default.?
any ideas anyone?0 -
That has happened to me in dreamweaver also.... but I got everything back to "my normal" by footering about for a while. Which version are you using?
Try looking under view/toolbar at the top... it may be the option is off in common tool bar for the email link.0 -
thanks alba37,i am using dreamweaver version 8.0

Ah me too, although it had happened previously in DW MX for me. Try checking view/toolbars/insert is selected. You can also do an email link from insert/email link.
Jeeze, I am stupid!! I couldn't have read your first post right!!! Do you have the email link button at all or does it just insert a link?0 -
Are you running the latest version - 8.0.2?
If not, download the updater from http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html0 -

Works perfectly.

p.s, whilst we are on about DW8, can I ask a question in your thread ? I must have ticked a box somwhere so that DW doesnt remember the password for my site. I have to type in the password everytime I want to change something. Even with the 'save' box ticked it wont remember the password....any ideas ?PREDICTION FOR 07/08
