Could it really be sweetcorn growing on my allotment?

Hi everyone,
I've just taken on an allotment and everything is really over grown and grassed over. There are some good points though, I seem to have some currant bushes and some rhubarb but I also seem to have some sweetcorn. Is it possible that sweetcorn is growing in the nw this time of year? I'm a novice but it does look like sweetcorn to me, but my mum says that its probably not (she hasn't seen it though)
Thanks for your help in advance.

In my experience it's not very frost resistant, but if you've got rhubarb (which also tends to die back in the frost) you may be lucky. A picture would help (if you've already got one I can't see it due to firewalls at work)Tim0

If you also have a a large green person hanging around trying to look innocuous then it probably is sweetcornThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I agree with Tim, it's not likely, but IMO it's difficult to get sweetcorn mixed up with anything else, so a picture would be useful.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Photo needed.
Until new year my mum had raspberries growing well but the frost stopped that.
It might not have been pulled down so it is still there but not growing.0 -
Thanks everyone.
I should have taken a photo. I took photos of my broken wheel barrow to figure out how to fix it, but not the unidentified plant! Damn!
I will provide a photo asap.

I would say the plants are about 25cm tall and they're about as fat as my index finger (I know thats not very helpful) I also noticed the form of them is sort of striated and they're a bit pink at the bottom of the plant, but yes I should have taken a photo!
They're in a line next to definately dead old sweetcorn plants so I was wondering if they might have germinated not when they were supposed to but rather instead when we had the hot weather in October? And the fact that it is winter could be the reason they haven't got very far?:A Shoppaholic Spendaholic Student :A0 -
oh and my rhubarb isn't properly growing yet, its only about 10cm i'd say with lots of new buds unravelling.:A Shoppaholic Spendaholic Student :A0

No the seed would have rotted.EconomyBeans wrote: »They're in a line next to definately dead old sweetcorn plants so I was wondering if they might have germinated not when they were supposed to but rather instead when we had the hot weather in October? If anything, it's from the dried seeds of dropped ears of corn. But I just can't see it if you have had frosts.
The pink thing reminds me of something, but I just can't remember what.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
