Help with Nissan Note - various things wrong, help with prices
We have a list of things wrong with the car after an interim service at the Nissan dealer.
Firstly discs and pads, at £240, this is for the front.
Alternator belt squeaking, this is £69, we dont even know what this means and havent heard anything
They broke the bearing whilst checking wheels and this was £71, we have already paid for this as initially they said that they couldnt get the wheel back on and when I questioned this they said they could put the wheel back on but it would be dangerous. I wasnt sure but didnt want to take the risk.
Maybe Im paranoid but I always feel ripped off, so we want to check the prices above and phone around (not the bearing as that has already been done)
The service was 180 quid on its own. We dont have any local friendly garage here that we can use that we know of.
The car does about 30k a year and is at 88k mileage at the moment, its a 57 plate

forgot to add, the things we asked to be checked but they charge us separately for are that the boot wont open - I think it actually doesnt unlock
in addition, the lights around the gear stick have gone which means in the dark you cant see whats going on, v dangerous
they havent offered any solution to these things at the moment0 -
£240 sounds like a standard main dealer rate for front discs and pads. There will always be people on here moaning rip off and that they could buy the parts from a factor for £xx and fit it themselves. Of course these people don't realise that some people aren't mechanically minded.
There's no harm in going to a Kwik-Fit type place for discs and pads despite their reputation. Phone around and ask for a quote and just ignore any advisories and sales spiel.
The boot lock button on Micras and Notes tend to fail or be intermittent - normally a new switch. I imagine the bulb has failed on the transmission indicator and whilst the part may be 50p their may be 30 minutes labour time to remove the parts/suround/checks etc.The man without a signature.0 -
30,000 miles per year is a lot of mileage and i can well understand why the bearing broke as they probably damaged it trying to remove the road wheel
can i suggest you get a half yearly inspection and this way you can cost things better
this is what i do with all my families cars a good check over clean and adjust and spot anything that needs doing
discs and pads price sounds reasonable too0 -
i looked on the website for mr clutch and they have the pads and discs by engine size so for us it would be 144 quid,, thats nearly 100 cheaper, is it a scam?0
