Buying Event Tickets Online

Options
Hi - I've just been looking for tickets for the Carling Cup Final this weekend and went onto livefootballtickets.com site where I was willing to pay £522.50 per ticket for 4 tickets (they are for important clients) only to then find out that they wanted another £192.50 per ticket service fee etc - can someone please enlighten me, how on earth this is legal?? The maximam face value on a ticket this weekend in Wembleyis £90 so how can companies get away with this??? This site isn't the only one doing this.

Surely allowing fans to sell unwanted tickets on ebay was fairer?

  • You're dealing with a tout site.

The reality is that selling football tickets on the "black market" is illegal under the Public Order Act, which is why they get removed from eBay.

For tickets to other events (gigs, festivals, rugby, etc - anything except the Olympics), selling on tickets in excess of face value may be against the promoter's T&Cs but it is not illegal - which is why it is very common.

The only legal route is through club-endorsed ticket exchange schemes such as Viagogo and Seatwave, but these won't exist for the Carling Cup Final.

I spotted 2 tickets on ebay from someone with v.high feedback. I knew it would be pulled, so i messaged him. It was pulled seconds later. He offered me 2 for £500, which i thought was steep. But an hour later someone said they would buy my spare off me for £500 - meaning mine was free. I text the ebayer - but they were gone. I was gutted.

Since then i have tried all the sites, and they are nearly all scammers.

Not happy - as i have been to every home game this season - and the club decided loyalty meant nothing for a final and they put everyone except season ticket holders into a ballot. This meant someone who had attended one match had the same chance as people who had been to 15+.

All season, the allocation was done on merit - but not for the biggest game in 6 years. YNWA by a**e.
