Lost acsess to all my files

This has been driving me crazy....windows won't let me log on to my account and is only allowing me a temporary account when I log on. I can't get acsess to any of my files....nothing is there. I can use the computer...internet...but am being treated as a newcomer. The message says it could be a corrupt profile or security issue. Before this happened it was freezing and I had outlook express and hotmail open together..I don't know whether that may have caused the problem. Tried everything but still can only log on as a temporary use...no files, lost eveything. Any help would be welcome. This started yesterday I thought windows would have been able to fix the problem but they haven't.

Try safe mode, F8 at bootup
then start, run, chkdsk c: /F/R
and then reboot.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for your help ...I ran checkdisk and it found a damaged file and either replaced it or fixed it..so everything is back to normal now. Cheers!0
