If you cards are already near the limits and you have negatives on your credit file then your chances of a new card is very low.

What do you mean by bad credit? what is actually on your credit file? do you have defaults? missed payments? CCJs or what?

How much do you owe in total on your cards? do you have any other debts?
    How much do you earn?

If you have only ever missed 1 payment what makes you think you have 'bad credit'?

Have you looked at your credit files?
Are you on the electoral roll?
Do you pay the minimum or more than the minimim each month on your debts?

Have you tried applying for a card with anyone else and been declined?

What are the APRs on your debts? It might be worth working out the maximum you can afford in ttoal towards your debt a month and put the figures into the snowball calculator to see how long it will take you to clear them http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx.

I dont think you have bad credit - The fact that you have high apr does not automatically tag you as a bad debtor to other lenders. Actually the longer you have credit - the better it helps your credit record as it means you have been managing your credit facility well over a reasonable time.

  • All declined I just read you should not apply to often because it can damage your credit score so how long would you leave it??

The above should have enough information to get you on track. I would stop applying

You say you applied to go on the e/r a year ago - did you complete the annual canvas back in autumn this year? or did whoever in the household complete it ensure your details were correct.

Contact the council - and ask if you are on. If you are not then get on the elec roll as a priority - if you apply now you'll be on from 1 April, and then that will take another month or 2 to filter on to your credit reports.
If the council say you are on then it could be a problem with the credit ref agency (particularly if its equifax you've checked), they may have your address slightly different to the council records for example.

Then if you leave it a few months (pay off more than the minimum each month) and then apply you might be able to get a better card. If you don't have a card with your own bank then it might be worth applying to them when you do make your next application.

Generally advised to have no more than 3-4 credit applications in a 6month period.
