    I second Baby frogmella's recommendation. I have used xe.com for sometime now and have found them to be excellent. In fact, I've just received a transfer from my son in Canada, it took just 4 working days by basic EFT. No charges made either end. Good conversion rate from CAD$ to £. Just remember to check yr bank's T&Cs on receiving international funds as some Banks do make a charge to receive funds, ie: Co-Op Bank £6, Santander FOC.

    PAYPAL of course.... or just post € cash for small amounts.

    I did;
    The Tresor public (English: Public treasury) is the national administration of the Treasury in France. Hardly a 'company'.
    How on earth does the OP get mixed up commercially with Tresor Public without having any facilities (friends, company, accounts etc) in France?
    Suspect we may only have half the picture!

  • I have a simlar problem. I need to pay someone in france 300 Euros for a holiday deposit,

    They also want a security of 1000 Euros for possible damages. With companies this is usually by credit card, which they rip up if not used. How can i do it with private individual in france? in UK it would be a cheque which they rip up rather than cashing.

    A cheque would offer no protection to the owner. You could report the cheque lost as soon as you post it.
    You need to find out whether you actually need to send 1300 euros with you getting it back at the end.
    Either way you will lose out on exchange rate. (Buy at approx 1.20 sell back at approx 1.36)
