renault megane II parts.
hey all.
my megane is off road temporarily while i sought some repairs out.
i intend on keeping the car for as long as possible so dont care for depreciation etc.
clutch has gone in it, suspect flywheel aswell judging by the vibration in gearstick.
04 petrol.
just wanted to know if theres any decently priced salvage yards or online renault parts specialists in around south wales area.
car still has many many consumable original parts on it from factory wich are now deteriorated.
kind of have a shopping list.
all 4 door seal rubbers
some interior parts such as gear knob/surround (silver)/center console with arm rest, boot carpet, 2 rear headrests (worn to the point that theres more metal than foam padding).
fron discs, pads, rear discs, pads (prefurrably the rears should come with wheel bearing and abs sensor ring).
geabox mount (with arm bracket under battery tray)
engine mount (left hand that attaches to timing cover).
anti roll bushes are originals, exhaust from cat back is original aswell as cat converter, rear wheel bearings are originals, battery original, alternator original oem factory, engine mounts above are factory orginal.
anyone here knows where the outside airtemp wiring location is, car has had a replacement mirror in the past but the temp sensor in the underside of drivers mirror is missing as are the wires, intention is to get a outside airtemp sensor with wire and re wire it back in so i havent got two dotted lines on the dash readout.
i know to most these are pretty petty things, but i'm OCD with cars like to have all parts in working safe order.
what ive got or got coming so far.
4pce, adjustable, toughened coil over kit (the roads here are stupidly full of sleeping policemen
and pot holes one shock has failed already and two of the springs wont pass mot due to splitting the ends appart all are factory original fit and theyve surved their purpose to the mileage of the car of 88k) standard shocks and springs come to £300+ coil over kit £50 cheaper TUV approved and certified.
clutch to come. have to wait untill box is appart for the thrust bearing to be sized up, and assess the flywheel for highspots and cracks, (im hoping theres just high spots on it so it can be machined if theres cracking with high spots its going on the trailer with scrap metal).
new inlet manifold gaskets (leaking air).
new battery.
new coolant temp sensor with upgrade wiring connector (apparantly the old types caused a few probs with starting issues)
new crank sensor
need to get a heater elemant for the matrix behind dash heater number 4 dont work.
theres one snapped bolt in the metal intake manifold where the plastic air intake manifold meet, ive got to get a bolt removal tool (anyone of any good ones ive rounded off two attemting to remove it both were cheapies) if not drill it out helicoil it (more work:mad:)
there was a manufactring fault with the injection manifold they were all different size bores and too small, so when bolted to the head restricted airflow and caused the gasket to blow after time, ive had it professionally bored and polished:D and now both bores meet up exactly so no restrictions or blowing gaskets.
ive got all new bolts for the plastic intake manifold as they are all stretch bolts and look to be on the worse end of tollerances i snapped one with my fingers when taking it out the socket!! thats luck.
my car has been a target for a few kids on a puncture streek, so the spare has self tapping screw (3 in total) all in different locations and out of the remits of a repair would of minded if it was a cheap brand tyre but its a brand new michelin thats been had  so what was the spare is now on (thank god its not directional saved the bother of swapping wheels)
dont know about the front windscreen, looks like someone used the passenger side dash in the past for storing files on and put scratches all over the screen it tollerable but noticeable (passes MOT) might order a new screen and fitted (links to good sites appreciated)
ordered limo tint for the rear screens, (there a few nosy parkers after 6x9's around here lately) these tint are certified to hold shattered glass in place and when pushed from outside dont cave in but when pushed from inside alows the screen to go through for safety illegal for the front so light smoke is coming too and falls well within in the legal remit of transition of light passing through them.

If I were you I would look for a MOT failed donor car. The 'Bangernomics' website has a good article on how to break a car at home.
The outside airtemp on my meggy ragtop was in the centre of the front bumper. The sensor cost me £5 from a dealer and 2 minutes to replace. Just open teh bonnet and look straight down in front of teh radiator.0 -

nope its deffo in the mirror housing on this model. its a small nipple looking thing. they sell complete mirrors with it in but not separate.
cheapest MOT failure, around here is £750 and i havent got the room nor storage for another motor although i could chop my rear fence down (that isnt owned by me) and put it in my back garden but i think my landlord would have loads to say about that subject. the car is on my relatives drive way as its sorn i havent got a drive or off road parking here unless back garden was altered but council wont put a dropped curb in because of the bus stop out the back.0 -
chop the back fence down
get an mot failed megane
strip the parts of it
dig a hole in your garden and bury what you cant use
and you already have the startings of a money pit:p:D;)0 -
lol SB. casseus is a close friend of mine and he's crazy enough to do that. as SB would agree MOT failure megane II's arent really cheap and few a far between unless its written off or the engine is caput 1.6 dephaser rings to mind but lucky enough casseus has the 1.4 engine that doesnt have the dephaser.0

How the hell did an 04 plate car get to be that broken?0

its not that broken, TBH half of it is me being obsessive, listing things that are my pet peeves.
ive just ordered a new fuel filter also.
majour things are the suspension and clutch, when you drive in an area that is mostly made up of roads with traffic annoying measures such as full width speed bumps, single lane speedbumps, deep potholes, and roads laid by blind men to cause such cambers in these roads, your suspension would take full brunt TBH to be on the same factory suspension it was born with in 2004 and covered 88K is quite impressive for something french.
the door rubber seals are not leaking water through, but peices of the top foam are broken off alowing road noise and air to pass through, causes condensation most mornings with rapid temp changes.
like i said its mostly what people would live with i cant it infuriates me gets me frustrated to the point i HAVE to repair them.
i cant help the french and their igledy piggledy injection manifold boring honestly just by looking at it you could see it was all wrong because there were big differences in sizes to each other that didnt match the head, that i corrected to stop the metal injection manifold gasket from blowing at the sides and passing out air, thats been done, and polished also so i should see an increase in MPG due to better airflow.
previous owner must of had his mirror knocked off, and he just replaced the mirror glass clipped the mirror back on and the dangly bit that was left he tugged off wich must of been the airtemp sensor, under the clock theres --Oc and those -- flash (thats peeved me off no end).
body work is in next to perfect condition, no trolly dents, no bumper scuffs or deep scratches, and it waxes up beutiful no rust to be seen, and theres original renault sticker codes on all panels with date of manufacture that all tally up to the same day. interior has seen better days with bits of sagging here and there, and someone went all out on the carpet cleaner and pulled the carpet away from its foam, but a bit of spray glue will fix that.
i just need these odd sods done so i stop obsessing over them.
ive been lucky i think as with renaults come electrical problems, this so far has only been the steering lock mechanism, thats a renault only part at £361.00 inc vat and 1 coil pack that was done by the trader as soon as i mentioned it and the heater elemant doesnt have number 4 operation but the rest work 1-3.
touch wood i havent had the usual renault engineering carp such as wiper mechanism failure, card reader fault, card fault, wiper motor failure, aircon discharge, VDO throttle unit failure, camshaft pully key guide wear.
ive had water pump and timing belt kit fitted less than 2.5k ago lucky as the idle tensioner bearing were worn and the water pump had a slight leak under the impeller shaft.
new air oil oil filter plugs.
got to get a pollen filter and get in the awkward location of fitting it.
all tyres are like brand new appart from the spare i put on.
rest assured if you ever had a car after me, you wouldnt need to touch a thing on it for a while because most of it will be fitted with brand new parts with the reciepts to prove.
i'm itching to put a stainless on it, the chrysler stainless gave impressive MPG gains i thought i wouldnt notice a thing but i did and power depending on how you used the car.0
