HELP to buy train tickets CHARITY

I am organising a concert in aid of the NSPCC which is taking place in Blackpool on May 20th.
I need to buy train tickets for celebrities and acts to get them here but I have never bought train tickets before and the prices I find seem astronomical.
Any advice on getting the very best deal on train tickets?
Thanks in advance.

Trains are expensive full stop. Thats why you keep seeng people moan about it on the TV.0

The reason prices seem particularly high at the moment, is because the cheaper tickets haven't been released yet, I am looking to book a train for 19th May, and am expecting the cheaper tickets to be out towards the end of next week. (I have only just discovered this myself) Another tip is to tick the box 'find a slower train' on the ticketing sites, I managed to knock some money off on a train to London by doing this, it made the journey an hour longer, but it is still a lot shorter than going by coach. Also buying two singles is usually cheaper than buying a return.0
