Funny, I was going to start a thread about luck......yes luck as winning a competition is down to luck only. Doesn't matter if you enter one time or 50 times, if the one entry is picked out then there is your luck.

I don't seem to be having much luck this year. I have been comping since 2004 and I don't enter that many comps. I only enter for prizes I want, only enter once, don't enter my family, made up cats and dogs etc and over the years I have had some fab prizes and some big prizes. Look at my signature for 2012 wins which was the best ever year for me.

Now for 2013 I have hardly won anything. In fact I have probably entered more comps this year as well? For example the Stella competition, some people have reported "my sixth win" etc. I won once. But then again, I wasn't entering my husband etc.

Then yesterday it made me think about my lack of luck when I read of all the winners on here and other places of the cases of Ginger Grouse. Yes there were 1000 winners and I wasn't one of them. Same with Blossom Hill, entered every day and no luck there neither.

Whilst having more entries in a comp you may think does increase your chance, in reality it may not as it depends whether lady luck is shining down on you.

I really wish she would shine back down on me please ;)

Thanks everyone, that's really helpful. I did think 300 was a bit low & now I feel better to know that the people that win are entering loads more than me. Wow 22,000, I want to enter more but haven't got the time lol. One day mayb?! Thanks again everyone, defo going to try chill out with this, I started it as a hobby & I need to go back to that way of thinking. 😊

Hi Lillygilly, as everyone above as said just do what you can when you can, I do about an hour on a morning before work, 20 mins at lunchtime and about 2 hours on a evening, I'm like rengardia I couldn't tell you what I've entered but I just think well that would be nice to win and I've got to be in it have a chance. I had 4 lovely big wins I wasn't expecting in dec/Jan but since then it's just been little wins like books, make up, CDs but I treat these as big wins because its a reward for all the effort I put in to my hobby. In April and may I didn't get much time to do my comps because I was ebaying aswell but I would do an hour here and there and I had a massive gap were I didn't win anything but I kept at it, last week I was informed I had won a £50 gift card for Meadowhall from a comp I had entered in May. Keep at it sometimes it takes a little while after you have entered for the promoter to let you know you have won aswell, so I maybe that you have won but you just don't know about it yet!
My best advice is treat it as a race not a marathon which is what life is all about anyway, good luck and keep your chin up the wins will come x :)

Huge thanks to everyone who takes the time and effort to post all the comps! :T

I agree it's all down to luck, like you sugarbabe I entered Glamour comp every day and managed just 2 wins, both of which were on the "extra" days that were run to make up for technical problems, so both would have probably had far fewer entrants. If it hadn't been for that, I'd probably not have won at all!! Similarly Stella - managed 2 wins despite entering nearly all, yet some people reported 6, 7, 8 wins!! Blossom Hill - me too, entered every day, not a sniff of a win! It really is down to luck of the draw.

As for how many entries. I never do multiple entries EVER unless specifically stated. (Dailies / weeklies / or 3/6/10/100 entry limits etc) I don't bother with unlimited entry comps as the odds are stacked against, you could spend all day entering one 5000 times only to find other people were entering 20,000 times! Just makes it seem pointless.

I don't have the time to enter every comp once for myself and once for my husband for example, so it's just one entry most of the time. In fact, if you try to enter twice, many competitions will either say "sorry you've already entered" or just discount any later entries, so I don't really see the point!

Oh and I don't keep count but I reckon, excluding dailies I enter around 100 a day.

I read somewhere that on average you win once for every 3,000 comps you enter but it can be up to 30,000:eek: if you only enter for big prizes like cars, large amounts of cash, holidays etgc

I have always disagreed with you have to enter hundreds per day to win.

For me that has not been the case over the years. I have no idea how many I enter as I said above I am fussy and have limited time so only enter for prizes I want. I probably comp for about 8 or 9 hours per week and again always have done as I work full time.

A fair analysis would be that I maybe only enter around 100 a week. But over the years that has brought me some wonderful prizes including big cash, holidays and money cannot buy prizes :D

I agree it's all down to luck but if you enter 1 comp a day you have 1 chance for that being your lucky entry - if you enter 300 you have 300
