Order cancelled by Amazon

I ordered Seinfeld Seasons 5 & 6 from Amazon last week for £6.49.

I got an e-mail today telling me that this had been mis-priced and that the order was being cancelled.

If I get in touch with them and complain/threaten to cancel other items ordered as part of the same purchase (just over £30 worth), what are the chances of them letting me have Seinfeld for the price I ordered it?

Edit; Oh, and have you any advice on what I should say to them?

Edit 2; I received the confirmation e-mail from them. I thought that was binding?

  • The contract is not made until they despatch the goods. This is in the T&C's for most traders.

Those of us who have dealt with Amazon before know that this happens often. The confimation email is automatic, the cancellation can follow days or weeks later. Sometimes, they will give you a voucher for your trouble but not always though.

Whatever you do, never phone up to check the price. Often good deals come up and are honoured unless someone rings them to check and then the jig is up!

    Better luck next time.

Express your disappointment to them in an email and they may give you an amazon voucher. Worked for me in a similar situation.

    Better than nothing.
  • Not exactly the same situation but...

Last month I had an order which had not been dispatched by the estimated dispatch date. I emailed to find out when it would be dispatched, the reply appologised, included a £3 voucher and the order was dispatched a few days later. I wasn't really that upset, but the voucher was a great surprise I didn't expect.

If you email them to complain they might be equally or more generous.

  • As above - email them and have a moan, but expect to get nothing. If you get a voucher then thats a bonus as you won't be getting the sets for the cheap price.
