so close to closing time I just demanded "Strapless 36a please" - which I thought was my size since I was about 18 - almost 30 years ago. "You're never a 36 - let us measure you" said the woman. Turned out I'm really a 30C!!! Love it! Wearing the right bra has given me such a lovely shape! I know I know. Such a cliche - but I do feel great these days.
Worth a try?
I've never actually been measured too embarrassed in case a snooty assistant decided I was something worse than a 36A like a 36AAA and said "actually we don't go down to that size try the childrens department".
Embarrassment!!!Veni, vidi, vino = I came, I saw, I drank wine

Id seriously recommend getting yourself measured! As i said before, i hadnt been measured for quite some time and talked myself into thinking i was smaller then i was. I too was embarassed, thinking theyd laugh at me or say they dont do cup sizes small enough, im so glad i got over it. You also may be suprised! many women wear wrong bra size, and that doesnt suprise me!
keelykat.
ps do you wear a bra at all right now?Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -
Hi Ladies,
First off get yourself off to be measured, you may be surprised at your size. IMy friend toldme that her frid was wearing a 34A and turned out to b a 30D and it made a complete difference to her look. If you are too shy, too busy or too embarrassed to get off to your local store to be fitted them PM me and I'll give you some advice, lots of ladies wear the wrong size and it can totally put everything out of shape.
There are lots of bras availalble now that start from a AA cup - for the lady wanting a 36A then there are lots that will give you an extra cup size and yes, they plunge low so you can wear a low cut t-shirt. There are bikinis as well!!
Obviously I won't post any details here but as I have posted before, I run a lingerie business so if you want help on sizing or finding something to flatter then please do not be too embarrassed to ask. M&S is not the best to get a good flattering bra so whether big or small and you want advice then please do ask.
BTW, I am a G cup and it is not all it is cracked up to be. As has already been said I can't wear a lot of tops as they strain at the buttons and look dreadful. Either that or they ride up showing my belly as they ride up over my boobs, I can't wear low cut dresses or a decent bikini fear of scaring small children and having men fall over with staring, clothes have to be bought 3 sizes bigger than my waist size so hang like tents, I can't get away with wearing a bra and it is worse in the hotter weather. However, I accept what I have and the person I am and that has more to do with anything else. The brava looks a dreadful contraption and I too saw the programme, the results do not last and if you can imagine having something suck your skin out for 10 weeks then yes of course you'll be swollen - let's be honest, if it was a man looking to enlarge his bits then we'd all be saying how daft it was and that it doesn't work. The only way you can enlarge them is by having more hormones or by having impants. Boobs do not make you a better person than you already are, it is only you that does that, however, if you wanted them to look better in clothes then there are a good range of bras that do that without resorting to surgery or something drastic like the Brava.
as I said, please PM me if you just want advice or pointing in the right direction for something, I am happy to advise if I can but won't post anything or put it here as it is of a personal nature.0 -
Oh yes, I forgot to add, that shop that sent you elsewhere is talking rubbish as I can get the AA and A cup with and without wires, if they were not prepared to have a look for something and maybe even order it in for you and take 5 minutes to help you and make you feel better about yourself then I would suggest you take your business to another store that will. Nothing annoys me more than obnoxious store employees that turn their nose up at people who are 'odd' sizes. You'd be surprised what some of my customers have had said to them in the past and it shcoks me every time as I could never dream of being that rude to people, whatever their size!!0

A blokes perspective (my gf is pretty blessed in that dept):
1) Small ones stay up longer.
2) Can do more sports etc.
3) You could buy all the good knock down goods in the Calvin Klein outlets, rather than having to spend a fortune in Bravissimo.
Small isn't worse, just different. Learn to love them, men do, whatever their size.0 -

Very well said, that is absolutley true. Remember - a man should like you for YOU, not for what you look like. If he is complaining then find someone else who isn't!! Just think of the movie Shallow Hal and you'll know what I mean.0 -

Embarrassment!!!
I thought exactly the same thing... but my mum went to get measured after a mastectomy so I offered to keep her company. The lady offered to measure me too and she was so lovely that it put all my nervousness to rest. I had always thought I was a 36A and with a stroke of her magic tape measure I suddenly went up to a 34B :j it was amazing!! Not only that but the bra fitted so much better that everything improved, how I felt, my shape & posture, the way I looked in tops etc.
She then helped me find a well fitting gel filled bra that made SO much more difference than the zillion other ill fitting 'enhancing' bras that I owned!
I really recommed it!!0 -

Just like to say that a man shouldnt have to 'learn' to love my boobs, if he doesnt like them or isnt keen to start with, he can go elsewhere! but had no probs, so im not worrying lol.

Get measured!
I was an average 38C or so I thought, I went to get measured and found out I am a 34E! I know loads of people this has happened too.
What tends to happen is, people wear too big a back size, which means once you come down to the correct fit the cup size is proportionally bigger so you have to go up a letter or 2. Does that make sense- ie a B sized cup on a 32 bra is much smaller than a B cup on a 38.
In a well fitting bra, the band should feel quite tight round your ribs and this is what supports your boobs, your straps will never dig in or fall down and your boobs will look much perkier with the fabric softly cupping not gathering up or cutting into your chest area.0 -
If you're too shy to go and get measured you can do it yourself - all measuring is a best guess and different styles will require different sizes.

the underbust should be a tight measure not a loose measure - don't forget bras are elastic tape measures aren't
I have back problems and so tend to have to wear a 36 even though I measure a 34 but I can only wear a few 34s as they seem to be less generous somehow in the back even on the last fastening.
And keely I don't think Idio was saying men learn to love them - he said learn to love your own breasts - men love breasts whatever their size
My OH is shocked now I'm pregnant and I finally fill a 36B - he says he doesn't know what to do with them :rotfl:0
