I am on DLA for indefinite period. I had assumed that when PIP is introduced next year i will be reassessed.
But when i saw this website http://www.disabilityalliance.org/f60.htm
i am confused after reading the following paragraph
''Timetable for the introduction of PIP
The timetable for PIP is as follows:
it seems that in early 2014 a full reassessment will be given to those chosen randomly.
Am i right that some will not be tested? I had assumed everyone will be.
Your views please.

The timetable for PIP is as follows:
- April 2013 – An initial pilot of a few thousand new PIP claims
- June 2013 – All new claims will be for PIP.
- Autumn 2013 – If you are on working age DLA and you report a change in your condition or your award is due to be renewed you will be reassessed under PIP. A few thousand other cases will be reassessed using random national selection.
- Early 2014 - full reassessment as part of rolling schedule using a random national selection.

All adults of working age will be re-assessed, no exceptions, children and the over 65s will not be re-assessed in the short term but may still be done at some time in the future.0

I wonder why they are discriminating against those under 65 but over 16?
What makes us oldies so special, when, from what I know, those over 65 are maybe the worst culprits for failing to inform the DWP of an improvement?
An example of this is a 72 year old who was given HRM & MRC when he was 64. The main reason was heart problems. He has since had surgery which has improved his condition no end. Consequently he should have notified the DWP of this improvement. However he now suffers from Arthritis in his legs, making walking almost impossible. This condition and the mobility needs that go with it happened only a year or so ago - well after he was 65.
What should have happened is because of the heart condition improving, he should have had his HRM taken off him, and as he was over 65 when the second condition arose he wouldn't get HRM for it.
His attitude is that one condition has replaced another. He can't see that the two conditions should be viewed apart.
I wonder how many others who are in this position are honest enough to inform after they are 65?
I wonder what the % is of the total paid out under DLA is given to those over 65?
PIP should be rolled out for everyone no matter what age they are at. To have two similar benefits rolling side by side is going to annoy a lot of people especially those that are working and paying tax.0 -
personally i never worry about what may or may not happen to other groups of people, who knows whats planned for the over 65s after theyve dealt with the rest of us?and dont forget it will probably take till 2016 to transfer every 16-64 year old0

I don't care either. But I do think it wrong that those over 65 and under 16 are being given preferential treatment by not being reassessed under PIP along with everyone else. And I will also say that the savings the government are hoping for (20%) will far exceed that figure - 50% is more likely is if we use ESA as an example.0 -
i havent seen any figures that suggest the esa example suggests that 50% savings on dla will be made with pip,i do agree that 20% is likely as some wont bother to follow up the transfer and others wont appeal if refused, but until we get there we really dont know and speculation doesnt help0
-
they probably arent doing under 16's because they will all eventually have to be assessed for pip once they get to 16 and need to assessed as an adult. plus they seem to get smaller awards so are assessed more regular or that seems to be my experience.0

I am sure the PIP development will be the nightmare ESA seems to be regarding appeals etc.
However, worrying at the moment will do nothing but cause you stress - I think wait and see and take it day by day - very little comes from worrying what might happen, and such worry prevents you enjoying life as it is in the here and now.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

Im an old forum user returning after a sabbatical - lost my old login details so starting from scratch
Everyone will be reassessed over time within the age groups suggested - it is likely that either new applications or renewals will be the first to be on PIP.
Im very invovled with other sick and disabled people working to help others respond to the govenrments consultation about developing PIP
If you currently get DLA and will be within the age range when it comes in then you will be affected.
Not to scare anyone but the DWP expects 500,000 people less will get Pip that currently get DLA
I dont think i can post links yet as a new member so please feel free to PM me
Thanks
