Obvious plumbing question...

... do all plumbers need to be gas safe registered to do any work on a combi boiler?
I'm assuming they do, but are there any circumstances where they wouldn't have to be, e.g. replacing a section not directly concerning the gas, or working with someone else remotely?
Sounds naive I know!

About the only thing a non gas registered plumber can do is work on the water side of the central heating so long as it wont affect any part of the safety features fitted to the boiler or he hasn't opened any part of the boiler connected with combustion or gas, and that includes electrics.
In other words not much. Why would you want a plumber working on your boiler anyway if he's not Gas Safe registered?
If you're trying to save money then you're going the right way about having to spend a lot more than you will save when he cocks it up!0 -

I don't...! My usual gas safe registered guy is sending someone else round to replace a valve. I'm sure it's fine but want to be prepared.

it depends what boiler you have & whether the front case is sealed, some divertor valves req the gas valve to be removed first so if either is the case then yes they need to be GSRI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
