Hi!

I download TV proggies, and with the US/UK (occasionally) ones I torrent and have a scheduler enabled. BBC Iplayer is being !!!!y with the windoze media downloads, so currently I have to use Iplayer desktop (hate it :() but I'm also interested in doing a months sub to Sky Go (ticket). I've talked to their advisor who promise me faithfully that I can download over night, so I can watch the next day.

Basically I have internet limits during the day time, which over a month equates to about 2 gig a day. After midnight and before 8am it is unlimited, so naturally I tend to download a prog or two a day during the day from itv, or channel 4/5 (as you can't download those anyway), and the rest I like to stack to download overnight.

As I can't download the media player files on iplayer currently (supposed to be a known issue) I have to start and then pause in iplayer desktop and try and remember to start them again when it hits midnight. WIth sky go I can use their desktop program to download, but would probably have to do the same as the iplayer (pause, and remember to start it after midnight)

Are there any programs that I can set a program in that forcibly stops it downloading between a set time, so I don't really have to remember to start and stop.

Has anyone had any experience with the Sky Go (monthly ticket/no sub needed)

I can't get a dish/aerial up as it's listed buildings, and we're not yet even digital! (sept 2012) so I have no live TV at all. Even an internal aerial doesn't work, as I've got very old, thick walled buildings surrounding mine in the direction of the transmitter. Downloading is basically the only way I can watch TV/keep sane!

  • I think that if you start iPlayer then pause and then run a scheduled task to kick it in at 00:01 I did that when I was on plusnet (free after midnight)

I'm on plusnet as well. How stupid! I forgot I could schedule tasks. If I remember rightly it should start downloading when I open it anyway. I'll go have a play with that and see if it does the job! Thanks!
