Dismantle sofas

hi there,
I need to move 2 large leather sofa's upstairs and they won't fit (I have tried several times now to get them up at all different angles).
There are no windows large enough to fit through so the only thing I can think to do is get them dismantled/re-assembled.
Is this a DIY job or should I get someone in? If I do get someone in what profession is this - is it a job for a carpenter, upholsterer or removal man?
Cheers,
Huw
