Groupon hotel voucher - having problems, need advice

    I now it's not what you want to hear but that doesn't bode well, taking a reservation like that when they cannot even confirm if they are open, and a cashed in voucher....hmm. Don't leave it too long before you pursue it.
  • Hi, I don't know if this will help but my hubby and I turned up for a prebooked 2 night stay at a different groupon offer in February to find hotel was closed and we could not check in or contact them. I called Groupon who were extremely helpful - they refunded the price we paid immediately to allow us to book in elsewhere and they were taking it up as a complaint.
    The advice they gave was always request an email to confirm a booking that way you can request a cash refund to the card you paid from Groupon if booking is a let down, however if like us it was verbal booking they would only refund to our Groupon account.
    Therefore i strongly advise you contact hotel by email if you haven't already done so.
  • Its a very good point Infoseeker makes. You can't rely on hotels to send you a booking confirmation email, so get the name of the person taking your booking and the email address of the hotel and send a confirmation email yourself. Keep a copy of the booking confirmation and take it with you when you go.
  • I do have a confirmation PDF from the hotel, thankfully..

    So I still have not heard from the hotel. We're supposed to go on Friday! And I contacted Groupon again, the first response was to say "the hotel has changed hands, here is the new number" - to which I replied "did you even read the previous emails in this thread?". I then got a response to say they were going to credit my account in Groupon credits by the end of the day. That was Friday, still nothing, and Groupon haven't replied to the 2 emails I sent after that. Not sure what to do now! :(
