Hi
I wondered if anyone could offer me some advice regarding opening a bank account for a 17 year old. A small amount will be paid in each week from a part time job. No overdraft is required only the use of a debit card. Trying to encourage him to act responsibily with money:T I have read some of the threads on here and am very confused. Many thanks for your time.

As he is under 18 then an overdraft facility would not be available to him.
Halifax offer the Cardcash account for under 18s which is a Visa Debit card.0 -

Thanks for the link. I am also looking into accounts for 16year old. Just happens that today I made appt for Lloyds. It seems to tick all the boxes and gives interest on current ac as well!0
