I buy a lot of cucumbers for my guinea pigs and my lidl still has them on very cheap. Salad costs for myself and those pigs are a real problem. I usually buy at lidl as it's so much cheaper, but can't buy the lettuce as it's always full of bugs, really full

its probably due to the fact they are being bought by big fat ugly women to stick on their faces in the belief it will beautify them?
hence market demands = increased prices

I remember a few years ago when cucumbers were well over £1 so the prices above seem cheap to me. In the summer here local growers sell them at the garden gate for 10p each.
