NAT WEST DEBT (Triton Credit Management)

Hi all,

Hoping for a bit of advice.
I have had a debt with Nat West since 2007 which I have been making regular monthly payments. Since the paymnet plan was put in place, they have had an Income / Expense statement at every 6 month review. At every review, I have increased my monthly payments. My Income & Expense statement has always shown a surplus income which has been LOWER that what I have paid every month. Since the payment plan was put in place, my partners mother has offered to make up the difference. This has never been a problem until my current review. I am actively seeking to reduce my outgoings to enable me to increase my payments at each review. At my current review I have agreed yet again to increase my payments, but this has been refused by Nat West stating that some items on my Income Expense statement are "excessive". This is the same statement they have had every six months since the plan was put in place, & as i have said, some expenses have been reduced to enable me to make the extra payments at each review. My current Statement shows a surplus of £198.00, & i have agreed to increase my payments to £220.00, with my partners mother making up the difference as she has done for ages. My prvious surplus was £178.00 & I was paying £200.00 p/m and this wasnt a problem.
Why are my expenses now deemed excessive, when I am increasing my payments at each review, & actively trying to reduce my outgoings? Is this just another bully boy tactic from Triton Credit? I'm scared that they are going to refer my debt to an agency :(

  • If they refer your debt to an agency that is nothing whatever to worry about. Agencies are toothless paper tigers that try to pretend they are fierce. Just carry on as you are and tell them that if they don't like it then too bad. These leeches will always try to suck more blood out of you, just call their bluff and tell them that if it goes anywhere your helper will stop helping and they will be getting less. They won't do anything. I have seen this scenario umpteen times and all you need to do is show them you will not be bullied. There is NO WAY they would be stupid enough to actually take it to court as you would pretty certainly wind up paying much less than you are paying now- also you might get estoppel to apply if they are trying to renege on an instalment agreement.
