Just had a responce back from black horse ppi claims.

refund of premiums paid including interest £2,361.98
excess balance and interest £649.78
less previously accepted claim -£2,322.48
sub total £689.26
statutory interest at 8% until 29th feb £902.45
less tax at 20%from 8%statutory interest -£180.49
Total £1,411.22
I was made redundant back in june 2008 and got a good payout.
I thought im paying ppi insurance on my loan so i might aswell claim on it.
My question is this. Ive been offered £1,411.22 refund. But are they allowed to take back the £2,322.48 payment they repaid back to Black Horse from the claim i made on the ppi insurance if it has been mis sold.
Should i take it to the ombudsman.
Thanks
IAN

  • I understand that they are allowed to deduct any claim they paid.

In a nutshell, if you hadn't had the PPI you woudn't have been able to make the claim in the first place - and by making a complaint you are in effect saying you shouldn't have had a PPI policy.

Want to have your cake and eat it?

The fact that you were made redundant and successfully claimed surely indicates that PPI MAY have been appropriate for you and therefore certainly not mis sold?

If i was off work for any period of time with sickness i would have received full pay.
Yes i receive a very large redundancy payout.
One of the conditions of claiming on the insurance was i had to pay £310 a month to black horse and the ppi insurance was being paid to black horse.
I did get some off the ppi claim payments back from black horse.
  • Also if the insurance had paid out for another 5 months at £310 would i have to pay them money back.
