A vote for auctionsniper from me, used for many years0

How would I remedy this - very simple. If a bid is received in the last 2 minutes of the auction, the clock resets for another 2 minutes. Sniper bid comes in at 2 seconds to hammerfall - then the time gets extended by 118 seconds and everyone gets a chance to reconsider whether to place another bid or not. Seller makes more, 'honest' buyers get a fairer experience, sniper companies don't get a fee and commission from every sale, so fees can be reduced.
As others have pointed out, even snipers have to beat every previous maximum bid to win. Just equaling an earlier highest bid and the sniper will lose.
Your suggested solution would just increase the level of another prevalent problem: shill bidding. A shill bidder could simply sit there making minimum increments to work the final price up to just below the real winner's maximum.
Shill bidding is fraud, sniping is not.0 -
