I am just starting to try and make claims on my loans and credit cards. Some of which have been paid off, but can I claim on those which were in debt and have been settled?
I also have a secured loan on my property with GE Money, and have received a Statement, which does not show any kind of PPI, insurance, but I am suspicious as the payments are very high for a reasonably small loan. Is it still work me approaching them?
Thanks :j

Yes you can complain about the one in debt but make sure you do it yourself as any redress may go to clearing the debt. If you do it via a claims company (which we don't advise) you could end up owing them money which would put you out of pocket.
You can also complain about cleared loans but you may not get too much information from the bank in question if they were cleared prior to 2005.
The secured loan could have been an upfront single premium which wouldn't show up on your statements.
If you have the original agreements they should shed some light on that.Successes

I am new to this forum so please forgive any errors. I received a letter from Barclays Bank rejecting my PPI claim because the PPI was not on the original loan. Presumably because the PPI was on the renewed loan [refinanced loan].
I do not have any papers of the original loan but I sent Barclays copies of their PPI policy and renewed loan agreement.
My questions are:
1. Does Barclays have a legal reason for refusing to pay PPI on the renewed loan?
2. What are my chances of getting my PPI refunded if I complain to the Financial Services Ombudsman?
Please help!
