PPI with Black Horse

I have recently revieved refunds for PPI from Halifax Bank. I used moneyboomerang. I got rinsed by them as I had to pay them around 30% of my returns. I didn't mind as it was money I didn't expect but I have one other credit agreement that I haven't chacked and this time I thought I'd go it alone. I had car finance with Black Horse between 2000-2005. They said I need to give them the agreement number to proceed with the reclaim. I no longer have it as it was so long back. They told me to check my current account as the agreement number will be on the direct debit. The bank only keep records for six years and they doubted the number would be on the dd details anyway. They also said to contact the car dealer but they've gone out of business.
Does anybody have any advice?
Does it sound like Black Horse are being awkward to avoid another refund? Are they legally obligated to give me that agreement number?
Any advice would be greatly recieved.

You need to go for the dealer, they sold the ppi and loan.
Give FOS a ring and ask what you should do as the company has gone bust and you want info they hold on you for a ppi mis sell claim.0 -
Im going through exactly the same thing. I had to ring my bank who then asked a manager to look into it for me. Yesterday they sent me a letter with the ref no on!!!! Great!! Black Horse told me to try their credit department if my bank didnt help. I have the address if you want it. They agreed i had PPI and told me i need to give reasons as to why i think it was mis-sold. They are sending me a form to fill in.
Try ringing your bank, if not use the credit people. Good luck! xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!
The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea0 -
Many thanks for the advice people. Black Horse have started to play ball and have said that I need to write in with as many details as possible and they can trace it from there. I suppose its a start! It seems the first advisor was unhelpful as the next guy I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful. Time will tell.0
