I wouldn't actually give the ea a complete copy, but for negotiating purposes I would show him the survey so he could see the highlighted problems for himself. The other thing I would be willing to do is photocopy the survey to show the problem areas only.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I didn't buy a house because of the leasehold arrangement involved but had had a survey done. I sold the survey on to the next potential buyer. Your survey could be worth money! Don't give it away.
  • The EA represents the vendor, not the buyer - you, as buyer, paid for the survey, not the vendor. If the vendor (and that includes the EA), wants a complete copy of the survey, they will have to contribute to the costs of the survey - 50% sounds about right.

  • ive done it anyway now, if theres any dodgyness theyre regulated and i can just pull out lol, theres that much wrong with the house all the survey contains problems so it cant do much harm :Pthanks all
  • Surveys are solely for the use of the person who's commissioned it i.e. paid for it and the report should say it's not transferrable to any third party. In other words the only person/s with any comeback on the surveyor are those whose name/s the report is in.

certainly agree, but its to go through the problems and negotiate who does what and who pays for what, im not scrounging for a couple of 100 quid, when it will mean keeping things good for a smooth transaction, so its all good :)
