Do I have to refund ?

I recently sold a game on Ebay that was in perfect working condition, the disk had no scratches or nothing and it played fine for me. The buyer now says that the disk won't work and he wants a refund, do i have to give him a refund ? I dont want a game back the worked fine before it was sent as i can't do anything with it

  • How long has it been since the transaction was completed? How long ago did the buyer receive the item?

What exactly is the buyer saying. If it's a PC game and its because they don't have a good enough PC to run it then you don't have to refund (unless you wrongly stated the min specs in the listing).
  • The transaction was completed on feb 13th and the buyer would have recieved the item on the 14th as i posted the same day. He is now saying that if i don't refund him he will open a dispute with me but he advises against this as i only have 10 feedback (all are positive), which makes me think he's just after leaving a negative feedback for me ?

It is an xbox 360 game that has been played and completed. He is saying it gets stuck at a certain point but i know for sure it doesnt because the game has been completed and has no scracthes on the disk at all.

ask the buyer to return the disc to you (at his expense) for you to re-check it on your machine. If it's ok, then you return it to him, if not, you should really refund him
  • Amandada's advice sounds like your best bet. More than likely you won't hear from him again. Explain that you want the disc sent back to you (Obviously at his expense) and you will check the game on your machine. If the game works fine and they are no scratches on the actual disc, then return it to him and advise him that he cannot have a refund because there is nothing wrong with the game.

and if he returns it to you and it is badly scratched tell him that it was not returned in the same condition that you sent it in.

it is possible the buyer scratched his own copy of the game and has purchased the same game from you to replace his copy and is trying to return his own scratched copy to you
  • I have had eBayers try that with me....all my CD's are like they would be if you brought them in the shop, never ever scratched and I always check them before I list them and again before I send them. In this instance, the buyer emailed me and said that there was a big scratch down the middle, like the CD had had a key run down the back of it. I knew this wasn't possible and emailed the buyer and said that none of my CDs are scratched and everything is always as described. I bluffed with the buyer and said that I also photograph all CD's I sell as there are some unscrupulous people out there and I had a picture of this particular CD. The buyer never replied again...I would have been in a mess had they asked to see the picture though!
  • Thank you for all of your replies, i have contacted him and asked for the disk to be returned, shall just wait and see now. I was worried about him sending the disk back scratched etc.

  • If you're 100% certain about it not being scratched when you sent it, stick to your guns.
