Its a friends birthday and we are after a cheap break to Newcastle for a weekend in March.
Does anyone have any knowledge of reasonable hotels?
Also is it better to travel by Train or fly to Newcastle from London?
Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
Cheers

The train puts you directly into the city centre, if you fly you will need to use the Metro or taxi into the city.
Reasonable chain hotels are Jurys Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Travel Inn all are in fairly reasonable locations.

Premier Travel Inn has 2 hotels - one bang in the city centre and one on the Quayside.
Holiday Inn Express has one very, very close to the city centre too.
They've both been pretty cheap when people have been coming to visit me in Newcastle.0 -
Forgot to mention....the Holiday Inn Express on St James Boulevard is about a minute's walk from the train station.0

Holiday Inn on St James Boulevard is a good hotel. If you book early enough you could get rooms for £50 inc continental b/fast.0
