I had over 2000 slides and got them done by Digiscan (www.digiscanltd.com) and am very happy with results. I now intend to send my negatives to be scanned also.

I considered buying a scanner, doing them myself then selling the scanner on again. However my slides were taken on a Nikon with an expensive lens and there seemed little point in then scanning them with a poor quality lens. The company have top quality equipment, far better than I could afford and they have the expertise that I wouldn't have.

I am sure this company is good at what it does. I had to take a look to see what equipment they have listed that they use. The items they have listed are just standard desktop nikon slide scanner and flatbed scanner. Which all can be bought for about £100 per item.

They seem to rely solely on the use of Digital ICE to enhance and colour correct all there images. Don't get me wrong it is a good bit of tech, i use it all the time when scanning, but i don't rely on it, as it does have flaws.

But the point here is time as much as anything, I've not got the time or patience to sit scanning a pile of negatives for hours on end, I'd much rather pay someone.
