Swiftcover won't cover my Swift!

Email from Swiftcover............
Your swiftcover.com car insurance for your SUZUKI SWIFT (XX06XXX) will expire on 16/03/2007.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to cover you for the coming year.

Please ensure that you have appropriate cover in place. Our partner, its4me.co.uk/swiftcover.asp, would be pleased to find an alternative insurer for you.

Sorry that we couldn't help you this time.

How odd:confused: Perhaps they are dropping out of the market for insuring new cars???

Anybody else had this experience?

Personally would contact them to find out why they are refusing to requote you.

Emailed Swiftcover, they appear to have stopped covering for Business use.
We apologise for the delay in our response, we are unfortunately receiving a higher volume of e-mails than usual and are currently attempting to clear this backlog.

I have reviewed your current policy and I have noticed that you have taken cover for Social & Business. However, according to your policy, you are now retired. This may be why the renewal has been declined.

The business use is for my partner who is also on the policy so I guess I will have to look elsewhere........

Last summer my friend needed business insurance ona car, he was currently using his mums car and was an additional driver named on the policy.

The ins co, Direct Line I believe would not extend the business use to anyone else except for the main policyholder.

You may wish to look into your next policy to ensure you are covered fully or switch around the drivers - NCD permitting.

Unless you are married to your partner, then you would not be able to cover him/her on most policies, as the option for business use for a spouse is for married couples only.

However, a brokerage should be able to help you.

If you are married, call back Swiftcover, and advise them of the above situation.

Thats odd as I have had class 3 business use on a car with Direct Line in the past (business use for all named drivers) and havent heard anything to say they are changing this... of cause it is only for "getting about" type business use and not carrying stock/ deliveries etc

The official line is, anyone who is using the car for business purposes MUST work for the same business as you..so as you are retired, your partner cannot work for the same business as you.

It doesn't matter what class of business use it is, the regular driver must use the car for business for other drivers on the policy to be able to do so.

Just tried to get a quote from swiftcover - they seem to be very picky! 37 years, licence for 16 years and more than 5 years no claims..sorry but we can't insure you!!! what???? Maybe they don't insure people who live in Liverpool? (we live in a good area though..)

May not be such a bad thing, I hear they're pretty awful anyway!
