Has anyone used bought this and tried it?
Sound Proof Insulating Liner
At an incredible 6mm thick offering the same insulating effect as 22mm of Wood, 51mm of Glass and 100mm of Concrete, our NEW Sound Proof Insulation Liner provides a simple DIY solution for homes and businesses that suffer from the inconvenience of sound pollution or noisy neighbours. Made from a specially developed sound absorbing foam and laminated with a thick lining paper, Mav Sound Insulation Liner delivers as much sound insulation as 10 cm of concrete. The polyurethane foam structure acts like a sponge, reducing echo and deadening noise, and is particularly effective in combating high frequency sounds.
This allows it to provide an effective barrier to the nuisance noises that come through your walls and ceilings. In addition our Sound Insulation Liner is a lot cheaper than other sound proofing solutions and is a product that novice decorators can use.

That looks really interesting. Our neighbours are quite noisy (but its not them its the fact the wall is so thin) this might be just the thing.0

This will not do you any good, this kind of product is only good for insulating sound, as the description says - Our Sound Proof insulating Liner is most effective when used to absorb sound and prevent it escaping into other rooms in the home. In other words, we recommend that you use it in the rooms where noise is being generated putting it on your walls when the sound originates from your neighbours will not dampen the sound.
Anyone who plans on using this to block noise from neighbours will be very disappointed by the results. It is designed to prevent sound escaping from a room not from entering it.0 -

The latex one is meant for noise coming in though so that's worth a look.
Have to say though, with the description given in the OP,it may confuse peopleIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
it only stops high frequency noises, if you read the spec
noise from neighbours is only ever bass/ low mids
useless product - youll need to put up a stud partition against the party walls with an airgap
thats the best way, if expensive0 -

I want to put up sound proofing before i plaster and was thinking of doing this, did you do it then, what were the results like, how deep and materials did you use??
thanks0 -
yes i did it
build a stud wall proud of the existing wall by about a cm in 2x3
put rockwool/ loftroll 200mm insulation between the studs. put plasterboard over the studwork (or ply then plasterboard if you want to fix pictures/ fittings up easily)
then skim
dont forget to run cables etc0 -

thats the way i was thinking, not sure about losing 3 inches of my wall, thats my only concern.0 -
Did you end up buying this? I'm thinking of buying it so I can play my TV up loud at night, playstation and maybe some music quite loud too. So my aim is really to keep the music indoor and quite the leakage. Now I've done a few other things in preparation before hand to get leakage of noise out now I need to do the walls.0
