My thread from last year - 'The comming new prosperity era' seems to be lining up nicely.

Devon, remeber what I said about making economic predictions - you don't track a linear projection line from a current scene, you instead look around around the corner. Blighty is a beacon against a very unerving Euro zone backdrop. The rebalancing of the economy is underway. The new boom is dawning.
The boom is dawning (incomparison to the falls seen). There is a big hurdle to clear first and that is a stable long term solution for the Eurozone. It can't continue on with the debt, high interest rates and low to no growth. Instead of thinking of the obvious, they have taken to propping up Greece as a symbol. This is caused a massive amount of money to be tied up and this will be lost, hurting the banks that leant it. Once the debt has been wiped clean then things will move on and a boom will occur. The Eurozone is a major economy failing under the weight of its debt and the markets know it (hence the higher interest rates for the weaker countries).

Yeh. A load of pap, which you have been stating will happen "next year" for the last 2-3 years.

See you are still doing it.

Last quarter we had negative growth, but that doesn't stop you stating the same "prosperity" thing all over again, this time based on asking prices on houses rising. Get a grip lad.

While I think most people would welcome some level of recovery to the economy, I think the word 'boom' would be most unwelcome now.
  • I think it is pretty obvious from Mervyn Kings statement a few days ago that the UK economy will see-saw in and out of growth is a clear signal that more QE is in the pipeline in order to manipulate the figures to prevent the UK from going into recession, well at least on paper that is.

Truth is .... the economy in the South is very near a boom, it's been brewing for 8 months now.

The North will follow in due time.

Sorry but millions of homeowners won't agree with you.
We want our houses worth as much as possible.

I don't doubt there are homeowners that think that. Personally though, I'd like my kids to be able to afford a house without needing half the money from me, and without them needing to go into absurd debt to get it. It's only paper profit until you sell and downsize or rent.

Paper profit is still money at the end of the day. We can withdraw equity if we so desire a new 4x4, holiday, or iPad. Renter class can only sit and wait for the next rent demand to pop through the door.

Hey you have the same name as me, don't worry you will become a real man like me soon enough. :D:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • If this was a stock I'd be looking at the volume of sales in the last decade vs now as equally important

Real men don't live at mammies home pushing 30.

Good job I have bought my house at 28 then, you know the one which will have a 47" inch 3D TV in the front room and a 40" TV in the bedroom (I know how jealous that statement makes you).

As it is I have just spent the first lot of profits from my business on building myself a nice HTPC (look it up if you don't understand).

PS, real men don't get banned from the MSE forums.

PPS, I am flattered how you are aiming all your jealously at me now, I must be doing really well.

You are logged in under the wrong username. The username MrRee is the one who uses the word "mammie" to make it look unique.

You did this just the other day with your pricklypants username. Don't be such a silly boy.

Percy what did you do to get this person / thing in such a flap?!
