I find it highly unlikely that a NEW buyer would be able to work out how to do this, and lucky for him/her, the seller just happened to be online to see the message and cancel it, all in the space of 10 minutes...
Feasible, yes, but likely? Nah, I think it seems slightly suspicious.
I think Ebay should change their rules and not allow bid retraction in the last 24 hours.
There are 10000s of Ebay rules to read, so when you you've been outbid and can't/won't pay any more, it actually comes as quite a surprise to find you've won.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Well, actually it does leave me in a pickle, even if it is of my own doing.
QUOTE= QuackQuackOops - You cannot assume shill bidding just because they are new or they havent bid with anyone else.
I haven't accused anyone of anything. Just said it seemed weird. I find your replies quite rude at times. All I wanted to know is if I am still obliged to buy the item. . I have been told that and now I know. Thank you.
I have contact the seller and been honest, haven't accused them of anything, and asked if they would be able to cancel the transaction.

Hopefully it will be a sensible seller who will be willing to cancel, rather than run the risk of a potential problem buyer.0

I have emailed the seller 3 times now, but have had no response. I tried phoning but got no answer. I contacted ebay for advise and was told that unless the buyer opens a NPB I don't need to worry. Does anyone know if there is a time limit in which they must open the case? I can't find any info. I just want to know if I am likely to get an unpleasant surprise later on down the line when I've forgotten about this.

even if there was a shill bid the removal of that bid put your bid back to its natural maximum and not an inflated one.0

Yes, I appreciate that, but as I was never the winning bidder, until the last 10 mins, I mistakenly assumed I wouldn't win and bought elsewhere.dinglebert wrote: »even if there was a shill bid the removal of that bid put your bid back to its natural maximum and not an inflated one.
Won't make the same mistake again, but am after advice on NPD strikes. Thanks
