electoral roll

Hello,

I was declined a credit card, so have recently applied and got my credit report.

Ebverything is fine, except I am not on the electoral roll. I moved house in October, and have registered, the council say I was added on the 1st February.

How long does it take for the credit reference agencies to show you are on the electoral roll?

Thanks

It can take anything from about 3weeks to up to a couple of months for your credit files to be updated to show that you are on the electoral roll, with equifax its not uncommon for it to take up to 3months.

To be certain I'd check your credit files to see that it shows you on there just before you apply for credit.

Your ER listing may have nothing to do with the refusal. You would have to have provided a previous address, and as long as you were on the ER there, this would not be an issue.

It is when applying for credit for the new address. You are incorrect Buzby, no electoral roll at the current address can be a big negative with some lenders.

You are right that it may not have been the primary reason for his decline (everyone always says there credit report is "fine" but that is a relative term) - but not being on the ER at his current address would certainly be a low scorer for most lenders - even if you were previously on the ER at a previous address.
