Transmission Problem BMW
Can anyone recommend a good, reliable place to take a BMW to have the transmission diagnosed and fixed please. Anywhere in South Hertfordshire, Enfield, North West London would be good. The problem is a circle with cogs inside appearing next to the D (for drive) in the mode box. We have limped home twice now so it definitely needs looking at. Thanks.

I recommend King Automatics in Epsom, but they are in South London though. The man without a signature.0 -
Thanks vikingaero but its out of my area and too far away. The car will need to be taken there by my Green Flag backup and then I'll have to pick it up myself. Maybe they know somewhere up here though, and if all else fails I could call them for recommendations.0

Will most likely be the pressure solenoid valve, wont be too expensive if it is.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Maybe I can take it to the 'guy down the road' to fit this rather than having it taken by Green Flag to a gearbox specialist company??? But I need to be sure that the pressure solenoid valve is the problem first. How much is this likely to cost. Thanks.0 -

If you click on the fedauto link, you can search for an automatic transmission specialist who is a member and maybe find one local to you.The man without a signature.0 -

I did this - thanks. Fedauto showed only one in my area which happens to be the outfit which fitted a new gearbox on my car 5 years ago. They have since moved 20 miles away but my insurance roadside people took it there and they scanned it and diagnosed the gasket under the sump leaking which they will replace and hope further damage to the gears hasn't occurred. Thanks to all.0
