Help with husbands big debt - long story

Well, I am 18 in my head, but 40 in the mirror! Seriously, I think that many employers like people who have a bit more life experience. It's all about people skills really...also, gets you out of the house, and you earn a bit at the same time:D
Any way you can get him on board? Me and my OH, went through a bad patch with money a few years ago...lost job...took one at half the money cos he really prefers to work..but we just ran up debts and didn't talk about it. When we ..eventually...sat down and worked it through together we made loads of progress..(still not out of the woods yet, but getting there)..if we'd both sorted it out sooner then we would have saved loads of grief and money. Hey hoe...if only I was 18 and knew what I knew now :-)0 -
Hi jimmerjammer
I can't offer any advice on the bank charges sorry, but just wanted add my support and a (((hug)))
With regards to the job front my dad is 70 and has 4 part time jobs all got since he retired....I think at 50 you will be considered a spring chicken so don't go worrying about your age.

I know that 18 thing - until of course my 21 year old daughter bashes me on the head and tells me to act my age!
My worry is that my husband is becoming clinically depressed. He is constantly ill and cannot deal with any of it. Tells me I am obsessed with trying to sort this out and constantly on the internet!! But there is no point in getting angry as the outcome is silence and awkwardness which really does not help me one bit and just alienates us even more. So I casually tell him what I have found out and get a reaction that way.
He is pleased that they have reduced it already, but I am certain that that was what the original debt should have been due to the first loan only being a few months away from completing.
mispoppy - thank you for the suggestion about the local small business advice unit - I am going to look into that tomorrow and see if we have such a thing in this area.
Anyone know who you write the Postal Order to when you send an SAR?
Thank you again, really appreciate it.0 -

Lots of things to do tomorrow...so try and get a good night's sleep if you can. Yeah, got a daughter too, almost 20, can be very critical, but also a very good friend . Take care.0

zippy - many thanks for that link - I shall have a dig around and see if it applies to us - as a sole trader and not a limited company? It's all beyond me really!
wyebird - yes - very good friend, invaluable in fact.
Definitely going to try and sleep now.
Thanks again0
