    Hi jimmerjammer

On a forum like this comments can seem terse which wouldnt face to face. I am sure noone meant to tell you off.

I'm no expert so can't offer any advice but just wanted to say I completely understand your situation, which is quite similar to mine.

You clearly need more income than you currently have so I would advise swallowing your pride and going for any casual work you can, even if it means stacking shelves. If you do that, would it shame your husband into following suit? I mentioned earlier that my husband was very resistant to taking a driving job I found, but when he did it made all the difference and things have turned around for him.

Also, do you have anything you can sell on Amazon or Ebay.

Without some additional income it's hard to see how your situation can improve, even if the bank did freeze interest. You still need to pay the mortgage and eat.

    Best wishes and keep posting

  • Hello Seaxwyn

I did indeed feel told off and judged and still do but am trying very hard not to cry right now because that really would be pathetic.

I am looking into part-time work - it is a little hard as I have arthritis and osteoporosis and so cannot stand for any great length of time really - blimey I sound like a complete crock! Have also spent the last few weeks poorly and so am probably super sensitive.

I think I need to have another chat with OH tonight.

But would still really appreciate answers about the PPI and business loans side of things - whether I can ask when I reply to this latest person for a copy of the loans etc.

Yes - eBay is a good idea - I did that very thing in Nov so that I had a little money for my daughter's 21st birthday. Thank goodness because I would have really struggled otherwise.

So off to the attic and then the fridge to see what we can possibly eat for supper!

Thanks for the words of support - really appreciate them.

I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. I hope you can have a good chat with your husband and make him see how much these worries are affecting you. If it's hard for you to work, he really does owe it to you to bring some money. I know it's hard to move sideways after a 30-year career but it needn't be for long.

As for the PPI etc, there are plenty of people on here who know about these things so I hope you'll get some good advice soon.

  • Thanks for that - let's hope so!
  • Jimmerjammer, it sounds nightmarish for you and I just want to add my support, too. Your husband is lucky to have you standing by him and trying to help - not everyone would be that understanding! It could turn out to be very fortunate that you always kept the house in your name, though.

The lack of paperwork is really stopping you getting to the bottom of the PPI issue, I feel. Have you requested all the loan agreements so that you can check what the bank are saying? At the moment it seems you have no basis to challenge them, and as they aren't your loans you're completely in the dark, as is anyone who tries to help.

Please, don't despair, there will be lots of help and support for you here. This crisis will pass and you will come through it together, especially if it gets you both talking and working as a team to sort things out.

  • Hello Mrs_deadline (great name by the way)
Thank you for your supportive words. I have tonight done a scrawl through some paperwork and have not found any loan agreements yet but I am hopeful. I have found the debt agreement and it seems from paying £3750 for the past fifteen months £622.10 has been paid off the debt!
No wonder they are so rich.
The other thing is everything I see on his statements are for interest and rarely bank charges.
Does anyone know if I can send the standard letter re charges if it's a bank account? Perhaps I should just do it anyway and see what happens.
Can I include the loans too? Would that apply?
Oh my this can be unbelievably overpowering.
    Thanks again.

I have been self employed for a few years, and have done bar work and other casual jobs when unable to get my usual work. Often you can be quite popular as you can invoice people for the odd bits of work you do so small businesses are not burdened by having to pay NI etc. I know it can be hard, got the "T", but every little bit helps.

    Hi Jimmerjammer,

Keep your chin up chicken, at least you have each other and have realised that something has to be done.

By all means ask the bank for details of the charges relating to the loans etc - the right to do this arises under the Data Protection Act and is not exclusive to bank charges for current accounts. If the loans and bank accounts are with the same bank I would just adapt the precedent letter (detailing each account) and send it off asap.

  • Thanks Wyebird - Please excuse my complete ignorance but what does got the 'T' mean? Oh hang on got the 'T' means got the T-shirt! Duh - sorry!

Do you think people would take you for bar when when you have no experience? There are a couple of pubs nearby that I could go to - always assumed it was a young person business - you know to get the punters in etc!!!

Am going to look at temp agencies tomorrow - interesting how this is all me - OH is sitting watching telly!

thank you - you have made me smile tonight which is always a good thing - I am really tired right now, but plan to sort out the SAR letter and post it off tomorrow and re-contact the CAB for a new appointment.
Do you have to write the Postal Order out to someone? Just Lloyds TSB? Or something else? Don't really want to send them a cheque so that they have my details too!!! Not sure where i should send it to either. Perhaps just to over-whelmed right now and need some sleep.
    Thank again!

    Hi

I know things are tough at the moment but with your health issues I'm sure stress isn't going to help them. You might be best talking to your local small business advice unit. I can't remembe the proper name but the local council usually run a scheme, if they can't help then CAB might be able to.

I hear what you are saying about extra work with a chronic condition its not always possible. Take care
