Is there a deadline that all these claims need to be registered by?

The rules are:
Within 6 years of when the policy was applied for or, if later, three years of when you became aware, or ought reasonably to have become aware, that you have grounds for complaint.
For complaints outside the jurisdiction of FOS, a court will accept a timebar defence on the same timescales or if it is more than 15 years since the policy was applied for.0 -
I think you may be referring to some of these claims from claims management companies saying "before its too late!!"... in that case they often mean that your complaint could be timebarred if over 6 years (although FOS will often deal with complaints going a lot further back because we have only just become aware etc). I would also think that there are not many people that could actually say they have never heard of PPI reclaiming when its on the media daily and we get automated phone calls (annoying!!) all the time.....
ALso I would think it will all come to an end at some time because PPI sold alongside loans stopped some time ago so maybe better to get any complaints in the sooner if you think you have been missold.
Makes me wonder though what else is around the corner and when we have all signed full and final for our PPI claims it will be a case of whereby the credit agreement (that has the PPI on it) will be the next type of claim and we will all have signed full and final for just the PPI back and have no comeback on what some law would allow us....LOL.0 -
The other issue on time is not one linked to a specific date but one linked to retention of data. Information on closed accounts gets destroyed over time and if your complaint is reliant on that information then time could be an issue.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Apparently this could be the new misselling .....

................ secured loans are mentioned here but what about those that had secured loans and then went for the PPI misselling and won and signed full and final. I wonder how this would pan out if it then came about that the Loan itself was missold. Have we all concentrated too much on the PPI and not the loan that paid the PPI????? Makes me wonder?0 -
Hello,
I am new on here and would please like some advice please. I called my bank last Thursday to ask them if I was paying PPI on my old c/card (1995-2009) they confirmed I had been but at the moment they are only looking into loan complaints (I thought this myself which is why I hadn't contacted them before)...after looking into it more I realised this was not the case so called them the next day and they said I could claim and they gave me a complaint reference no...I asked if I needed to write to them - they said no they would do it all.
I am not sure if I am to leave it with them or do I write to them?. They didn't ask me any questions.
I remember some years ago that PPi suddenly appeared on my statements and thought it was mandatory.
I am still banking with them and we have a good relationship so don't want to upse them at all.
Can anyone help please? thank you0
