I had a 1995 ESI 1.6 auto for four years and was a lovely car-would definitly recomend. In the end the gearbox packed up. Paid £2k for it in 2004.0 -
Thats the hunt began in ernest for another banger. Trawling Ebay, Autotrader and Gumtree, I've also put something on my Facebook incase anyones selling.
Corsa B first choice, second choice will be virtually anything pre 2000 with a bosch fuel pump.0 -
I haven't read the whole thread but I drive a 1984 Vauxhall Cavalier. It was my granddad's car (owned since 1989) and I inherited it when he died in 2004 so it was free!
It's still going strong - I've done 10,000 miles in it this past year - and it has 105,000 on it altogether. No major repair work - usual consumables, tyres, brake pads, batteries etc. It had to have a new exhaust last year as the back box fell off thanks to a run in with a rutted farm track.
I'm thinking of retiring it this year though. I fancy something a bit newer but it will be very hard to part with it as it has such sentimental value.December 2010 wins - 12 month Four Four Two subscription; Alcatel OT 708 phone; Miffy cuddly toy; Nivea gift pack0 -
First car was a y reg Cavalier 1.6 in powder blue. Always loved that shape.
There was a F reg one went through a local auction recently, by the time I seen it the auction was either that night or passed.
Owned by Shell, apparently it was used for fuel testing (there was a couple of mk3's went through as well).0 -

£550, 206k miles. Had a lot of work done in the past year (brakes, belts, altenator, water pump, glow plugs, tappets).
Done around 120 miles getting it home, thats me done about 200. Absolutely love it.0 -
noticed he said that it uses a gallon of fuel every 26miles. That's horrible, old cars were really inefficient.0
