Car Warranty
Hi All
We have just taken delivery of a 2009 Hyundai car which we are very pleased with. However upon looking at the service history we have noticed that the car was originally registered in Ireland (where there is only a three year warranty) and subsequently shipped to the UK (where they offer five year warranty). It also doesn't appear to have a full service history.
Prior to purchasing the car we asked the salesman at the Hyundai dealership if the car had a full service history and if the five year warranty was transferable to the new owner. He answered yes to both questions both on the phone and later in person when we went to look at the car. We didn't get this in writing.
My question is (a) do we have any rights for being missold the car both on the full service history and the lower warranty period and (b) can we request that the garage honour the extended warranty.
I intend to write to the garage (which has a very reputation) to see what they will do about it but just wanted to see if people had any further advice - is it worth me contacting Hyundai UK as well.

Just contact the dealership intially and see what they come back with regarding the service history, you'll get quicker response calling them. You could contact Hyundai UK just to confirm whether they'll honour the full 5 year warranty on a vehicle purchased via the dealer network, even if it was registered in NI.0
