Tomtom Live services renewal cost

Hi,
I have tested the Live services for a year and have decided I am going to renew. I have just had a reminder at the standard price of £47.50p. Does anyone know if they will follow up with a reduced price offer if I wait?

Though I'm not directly answering your question, you may want to bear this in mind, I just updated my TomTom 940 to the latest software, and now the Live services don't work. It comes up with a Error 1008 something wrong with the sim card, had a look on the website support and it says they're working on a fix.

As my Live services are up for renewal in a couple of months, I'm considering getting one of the latest top Garmins for about £300 which comes with map updates and their version of Live services for life.

Mine is also up for renewal within a couple of weeks. Just wondering what this voucher is for/what to be used for?

Usually covers any purchase above £10 on the tomtom website, however you do already have to have been registered with tomtom.

I have been registered for several years and have just read through a few months worth of the regular mailshots but have not found any with a general £8 voucher like that. Plenty of special offers for reduced maps though.

Does it come as a voucher code to use at checkout or something else?

Yes usually on the mailshots theres a code on there to use on checkout for anything maps, accesories etc.

I actually used one to purchase a bean bag mount and another on a different period for a charger.

i wouldn't bother with a garmin .i've got one and it's pants , used it in france during the summer, not too bad gouing out for the day but coming back when i wasn't too certain which roads i wanted , it directed me down every single track lane , despite having a dual carriageway 5 mins from the place where i was staying , you'd be better off with an atlas

I've a Tom Tom Go Live 1005 now 13 months old. I did not renew Live services nor did I renew the maps. I did phone Tom Tom and complain at the high charges and they did give me a more up to date map which would reduce the annual cost £20 or so. However, with Live around £50 and the maps another £40-60, I am still on the fence as to whether it is worth it.

What is frustrating is that if you now want to go to somewhere which is not in your saved locations, you cannot now just put in Sainsburys in X town and then go or store, you have to put the post code or street in, which is not as easy.

It could be worse... There was a report in Which last month about the cost of updating built-in sat navs. Car manufacturers charge £200-500 to update your maps!

I never fancied a built-in sat nav. Seems like something that's just better kept separate as it's easier to replace when it inevitably breaks.

We've had a TomTom Go 520 for about three years now and it's still going strong. We've never used TomTom Live but we do pay for map updates. Although it's around £35 a year, you get a fresh map every three months.
