item not a described

i brought a item of ebay and when it arrived it was so washed out it was a different colour and it in such a bad condition it only worth being used asa cleaning rag or the bin

the picture showed the colour it was described as and on the listing it described as that colour but it no where near that colour. i feel the picture is a old one as the item look different

i contacted the seller who is claiming it was that colour at one point and they had said the item is used

i replied back saying it is wrongly described as it should be the colour it is now not what it used to be

i got a rude reply asking what i want from them

im not sure whether to ask for a full refund as i will have to send the item back and the signed for postage is more than what the item cost in the first place

should i just go directly through ebay with a item not described as the seller is replying rude and i fear i wont get a refund

You could send the item back and get a full refund on item and postage. However you would have to pay for return postage and make sure it is sent special delivery as you will need to give eBay or PayPal the information that the item has been dispatched.

It depends on whether this cost is worth it, could just give the seller a negative review and put it down to experience.

    You can't.

The seller will refund you the price you originally bringeded it offf Ebay at (initial cost and postage), but you'll have to pay for TRACKED return postage!

Open a dispute for "Item not as described", then put in the dispute that you expect the seller to pay return postage, as they'd used an old photo of the item, thus not showing how worn it was. If you're lucky, Ebay might give you a voucher for the cost of the return.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

As mentioned by pinkshoes, you are liable for return postage but they will refund the outgoing postage to you.

Also you need to use the more expensive postal service that has tracking e.g. Special delivery with royal mail. Not recorded post.
  • ive asked for either part refund and keep the item (will turn it into scrape material for cleaning) or refund with return postage

Given a cleaning rag only costs about 20p new, then that's quite some partial refund you'll be requesting!
