One of the options to pay for an item I won on eBay is moneybookers and pay via CC. Does anyone know if this would be considered a cash transaction or a purchase?

If you pay via cc it is purchase,
if you deposit money to moneybookers and pay via moneybookers - its cash transaction.
But if you pay by credit card using moneybookers - it will be purchase!0 -
I'm probably going to do the same thing via PayPal rather than Moneybookers after speaking with the seller. PayPal only protects up to £500. Would buying it on a CC give me the protection I need since the item is valued higher than that?0

No, you will not have section 75 protection as Paypal would have held up their end of the deal of transferring money. Although it sucks, think of it as paying Western Union with a credit card and then complaining something you bought hasn't arrived.
I would recommend Paypal just as it's the preferred method of payment for eBay and I imagine they will be able to deal with disputes much more easily as they're the same company.
I've paid many times through Paypal on my credit card and it is always treated as a purchase which is good for you.0
