Accused of abandoning council flat

I hope you claimed costs.Years back I had exactly the same thing happen to me, dspite me going and demanding to know what they were playing at they dragged me down to the local magistrate courts where I explained that as a bored lonely single mother I had this horrible habit of going out during the day to wander round windowshopping, or sometimes spend the day with my friends. They laughed it out of the building and the council chap looked rather sheepish.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. The landlord (Council) did not originally contact me about an Inspection but accused me, without supplying any reasons, of abandoning my flat.
I object to Local Authorities being able to send letters to people stating they have reason to believe you no longer occupy your property and that it has been abandoned, and if you don't respond to their letter within seven days legal proceedings will be taken to reposses the property.
A Tenancy Audit has been carried out. I was informed two letters had been sent to me prior to the Abandonment Letter - when I didn't respond the Council sent the Abandonment Letter. However, I did not receive either letter. When I informed them I hadn't received the letters they said the post is bad in this area! None of this explains why they sent any letter in the first place.
Since the Tenancy Audit I have received a letter from a Contractor asking me to contact them to carry out work on behalf of the Council. (The Council haven't informed me of this particular work - which they usually do). However, the letter was left outside my front door (highly unusual) - and not pushed through my letter box. It seems to me the Council are still trying to check if anyone is in the property!0
