If you need to ask the price- you can't afford it. Only pay cash. Don't do credit. Look at the price times that by 5 and think would I still pay that for it? Am i happy to pay for this lipstick until I am 90?

The best advice i could give anyone is to get a scooter/moped, saves me loads of money. Used to pay £5 a day to park the car.

Have you never thought of a scooter Sloppysaver? I have had a few bigger bikes but now ride a scooter.

£15 tax so not a massive loss if it sits in the garage. £6 a week petrol and that normally gets me about 120 miles. Forget about traffic straight through the middle or round the outside. Easy and cheap to service to. and you dont have to pay for parking either!

Does what it says on the tin, a-b. Yeah there not that nice at this time of year but its not that bad just wrap up warm and put some waterproofs on.

It pays to live within your means.
Remember you'll never get ahead if you spend more than you earn.

I did actually. Mrs S used to have one when she was Miss C, I used to have a blast on that. It was a lime green aprillia that matched the lime green ZX6R I had at the time. When I pulled up next to her at the traffic lights, it was love at first sight. Oh, and Miss C. looked OK too.

Anywho, we're trying NOT to spend money here remember? This thread isn't called "Let's get Sloppy into Debt"!!

ohh, but that Lime Green Aprillia....

I used to work out how much something would cost me in time working to pay for it. It used to put me off impulsive extravagances...by the time I'd worked out how many hours pay it would take to buy it, I usually thought - hey that's not worth 16 hours work, 16 hours of my life for that! Especially as I hated my job at the time.
  • umm there are many ways but you ave to find one that workes best for you... for me it *was* no credit and savings but that seem to have sliped a little... also one of my best is... finding something i want to buy take a pic/description of that item... put that pic/decription in a prominet place (i use my pc) then over the past 3/4 days i manage to talk myself out of it and the money is then saved :T funny but true... also most of the time i never think about the said item again :rotfl:
  • How not to get into debt: Do not covet your neighbour's !!!..... or handbag, or car, or conservatory.....Not keeping up with the Joneses in other words!
    Overpay!
  • I always ask myself these three questions

    1. Do you want it?

    2. Do you need it?

    3. Can it wait until tomorrow?

The last one has saved me a lot of money BUT a few missed bargains (TK MAXX in particular)

  • Debt is impossible for anyone to to decide how to avoid, it, in my opinion, can't be avoided. At one point in any persons life, now, or in 50 years time debt is to be had, loans are to be had, credit is on offer even in the milkman that starts his round at 4am, DEBT is there...and most obviously,.... mortgages...dont we all get into debt?!
In an idealiststic (sp) world, we don't, but in reality we do. We just don't earn enough to keep up with todays society.
    We don't.
We have to do something about this. We do.
We just sit and wait for the bailiff to take us...or if we're lucky, we get to sell our houses, pay off a bit of the debt and move...it's so wrong, it's all so wrong.
Why doesnt anyone, someone speak for us?
